Malkia means queen in Swahili and this rug is named in honour of the women whose skill and craftsmanship bring each piece to life. The Malkia rug is made from handwoven recycled cotton denim. Each piece is meticulously woven, forming a unique combination of circularity, history, culture and design.
Designed as both textile and artwork, it works equally well on the floor or displayed on the wall.
Made by female artisans in Eastern Kenya, this rug gives materials a second life while supporting skilled craftsmanship and sustainable livelihoods.
