Kahawa Huaraches

Kahawa, meaning coffee in Swahili, takes its name from the smooth, coffee-coloured leather used to craft these sandals. Inspired by traditional pre-Columbian designs, the designer reinterprets the form through African craftsmanship. The leather used in these hand crafted sandals is sourced from deadstock that would otherwise go to waste.

Designed by Lusweti, a talented emerging Kenyan designer, and made by skilled shoemakers working in East Africa's largest handicraft market, Kariokor Market, these shoes give unused materials a second life while supporting skilled craftsmanship and sustainable livelihoods.
